General Directions: Begin with properly cleaned and fired 06 bisque. Thin down White and apply over entire piece to get into all detail. When dry, apply another smooth coat of undiluted White. Allow to dry. Apply Hyacinth Blue in small areas wiping back for highlights until entire piece is covered. Dampen a soft cloth with Solvent to wipe back further highlights and an overall even look to antiquing. Spray with Porcelain Mist to set TL. Reminder: In this technique, sometimes more than 1 coat of TL is necessary so between each coat, the color must be sprayed in order not to lift the first layer. Refer to photo for color placements in various sections. Technique1. On all vehicles, apply 2 coats of Slate Gray to the windows. Spray. Add wipers with Flat Black. Lightly drybrush with White. 2. Use Black TL for the tires and chrome detail. Spray. Paint white walls White. Heavily drybrush chrome detail with Shimmering Silver. Spray. Paint headlights White and tail lights Christmas Red. For all “cherry” lights, apply 2 coats of Holiday Red. Spray. Drybrush with Christmas Red. 3. For the Fire Engine, apply 2 coats of Holiday Red. Spray. Even out color by drybrushing with Christmas Red. Paint details on doors with White. 4. The main body of the Paddy Wagon is 2 coats of Hyacinth Blue, the fenders are 3 coats of White Cloud and on the back doors use Black TL in the “bar" area. Drybrush the body with Ice Blue then even out the fenders with White. Paint the bars and door handle with Shimmering Silver. Detail sides with White. 5. Apply Black TL to the top, trunk, hood and doors of the Police Car. Use 3 coats of White Cloud for the quarter panels. Spray. Work some Flat Black into a brush then tip into White to make a dark gray to highlight on the higher edges of the black areas. Detail with White. 6. The upper half of the Ambulance is 3 coats of White Cloud; the lower half is 2 coats of Holiday Red. Spray. Even out the upper half with White and the lower portion with Christmas Red. 7. For the Milk Truck, apply 2 coats of Antique Ivory to the mid-section and hubcaps. Spray. Lightly drybrush highlights with Ivory Tusk. Use 2 coats of Olive Green for the top and bottom of truck. Spray. Lightly drybrush with Forest Green; tip into Lt Yellow Orange to highlight. Paint all handles with Shimmering Silver. Detail lettering in Christmas Red. 8. Finish any remaining or desired details. Spray with 2 light coats of Gloss Sealer. |
