General
Directions: Begin with properly
cleaned and fired 06 bisque. Thin down White and apply over entire piece to get
into all detail. When dry, apply another coat of undiluted White. Allow to
dry. Apply Hyacinth Blue in small areas wiping back details until entire piece
is covered. Dampen a soft cloth with Solvent to wipe back further highlights.
Spray with Porcelain Mist to set TL. Reminder: In this technique,
sometimes more than one coat of translucent is necessary so between each coat,
the color must be sprayed to protect the first layer. Refer to photo often for
color placements.
Technique
1.
Apply Cocoa Twinkle to paddlewheel only. When sheen is gone lightly wipe
back leaving color in crevices. Spray. When dry, use Holiday Red on
paddlewheel, roof and deck bases. Refer to photo for placements. Wipe back
highlights on paddlewheel, then spray. Apply a second coat to eliminate any
“pink” color and achieve deep red tone. Spray.
2.
Lightly drybrush red areas with Old World Santa Red then tip into Orange
to highlight worn areas. With the same brush, tip into Brightest Yellow to
further highlight.
3.
Apply Hyacinth Blue to rail in-sets and roof eaves/ louvers of captain’s
quarters. Spray. Lightly highlight with Medium Blue then tip into White to
further highlight.
4.
Evenly drybrush body of boat and all remaining detail with White. This
may take several coats but do not over do it and lose details. This
pertains to details on paddlewheel. Refer to photo as needed placement.
5.
Paint window frames, trim above windows between decks, all smoke stacks
and various exhaust areas as well as paddlewheel trim and details with Flat
Black. Refer to photo as needed. Lightly drybrush with Sculptured Bronze then
tip into Glorious Gold to further highlight.
6.
Paint rivets on black details with Glorious Gold and rivets on white
detail with Flat Black. Detail other areas as desired. Spray with Gloss
Sealer.
