General Directions:
Begin with properly cleaned and fired
06 bisque. Thin down White and apply over entire piece to get into all detail.
When dry, apply another coat of undiluted White. Allow to dry. Apply Hyacinth
Blue in small areas wiping back details until entire piece is covered. Dampen a
soft cloth with Solvent to wipe back further highlights. Spray with Porcelain
Mist to set TL. Reminder: In this technique, sometimes more than one
coat of translucent is necessary so between each coat, the color must be sprayed
to protect the first layer.
Technique
1.
Apply Black translucent to all stones. Wipe back to highlight; spray.
Randomly apply Golden Ochre, Light Gray, Wedgwood Blue and Brick Red to
cobblestones and chimney. Very lightly highlight these areas with Light Gray.
2.
Use one coat of Black Forest to grass; spray. When dry, apply a second
coat and wipe back highlights. Highlight grass with Sunflower and Tangelo.
3.
For foundation stones, wooden gables, dormer wood siding, roof and
‘candle shop’ doors, apply Golden Twinkle then wipe highlights; spray. Detail
top trim of roof and dormers with Brick Red. Apply a second coat to foundation
stones and gable ends; spray. Drybrush these areas including ‘candle shop’
doors and dormer siding with Brick Red then tip into Golden Ochre and Ivory Tusk
to highlight.
4.
Apply Ginny Tan to ‘tea house’ siding, all trim around ‘candle shop’ and
dormers. Spray. On these same areas, apply Antique Ivory then spray. Lightly
drybrush with Golden Ochre then tip into Ivory Tusk and White to highlight.
Evenly drybrush all trim around ‘tea house’ with White. Detail trim just under
eave with Brick Red.
5.
Use Bay Blue on both doors, eave and trim of gable end on ‘tea house’ and
all siding on ‘candle shop.’ Evenly drybrush with Regal Purple then highlight
with Deep Purple, Dusty Violet and Hushed Violet.
6.
Paint all window frames with White. Sign brackets and door handles with
Flat Black. Tea House sign was drybrushed White on inside and trimmed with
Regal Purple highlighted as above. Candle Shop sign was drybrushed with Ivory
Tusk then highlighted with White on inside then trimmed with Regal Purple then
Brick Red. Spray.
7.
Drybrush sign brackets and door handles with Sculptured Bronze then
highlight as desired with Glorious Gold, Shimmering Silver and Copper. Detail
trim on gable end of ‘tea house’ and ‘candle shop’ with Copper.
