SS-254 Yellow Ochre                              TL-116 White Cloud

General Directions:  Begin with properly cleaned and fired 06 bisque.  Thin down White and apply over entire piece to get into all detail.  When dry, apply another coat of undiluted White.  Allow to dry.  Apply Hyacinth Blue in small areas wiping back details until entire piece is covered.  Dampen a soft cloth with Solvent to wipe back further highlights.  Spray with Porcelain Mist to set TL.  Reminder:  In this technique, sometimes more than one coat of translucent is necessary so between each coat, the color must be sprayed to protect the first layer.

Technique

1.        Apply Black TL to cobblestones.  Wipe back to highlight, then spray.  Randomly apply Light Umber, Light Gray, Wedgewood Blue and Brick Red to stones on base.  Very lightly highlight these areas with Light Gray.

2.        Apply one coat of Black Forest to grass and roof then spray.  When dry, apply a second coat and wipe back highlights.  Highlight grass with Sunflower and Tangelo.  Highlight roof with Flat Black. Spray.

3.        Apply White Cloud to base and siding of steeple and bricks of building working into crevices to create illusion of light mortar.  Spray.  Allow to dry completely.  Drybrush 2 coats of Walnut to bricks excluding trim brick just under the eave and on the top and bottom of out-set bricks on sides and back of building.  Build this color up slowly otherwise too much color may deposit into crevices.  Spray.

4.        Apply 2 coats of Holiday Red to door, spray.  Drybrush bricks and door with Brick Red then highlight with Old World Santa Red.  Tip into Orange Rust to randomly add highlights to bricks.  Randomly paint a few stones with Dark Brown and Yellow Ochre.

5.        For the trim brick under eave, top and bottom of out-set brick and steps, apply Coal Gray.  Spray.  Lightly highlight with Light Gray then tip into White to highlight.

6.        Apply Antique Ivory to corner trims, three-tiered eave, second eave from roof ends, trim at steeple and small window above door; refer to photo for placement then spray.  Drybrush evenly with Ivory Tusk then tip into White to further highlight, also highlight window above door.  With a clean brush, further highlight with White then evenly drybrush base of steeple, all window frames and trim around door

7.        Paint a detail line on the large eave going around the building with Flat Black.  Also paint the doorknob, remaining eave just under the roof, roof cap, trim on steeple base, and the roof on the steeple with Flat Black.  Lightly drybrush the eave under the roof and on the steeple base with Light Gray tipped into Flat Black.  Paint over roof cap, doorknob, detail line on eave and trim/ top of steeple roof with Sculptured Bronze.  Very lightly highlight these same areas with Glorious Gold.
