General Directions:
Begin with properly cleaned and fired 06
bisque. Thin down White and apply over entire piece to get into all detail.
When dry, apply another smooth coat of undiluted White. When dry, apply
Hyacinth Blue in small areas wiping back for highlights until entire piece is
covered. Dampen a soft cloth with Solvent to wipe back highlights for an
overall even look to antiquing. Spray with Porcelain Mist to set TL.
Technique
1.
Apply Black TL to the cobblestones, sidewalk and roof cap. Wipe back
highlights on each area to a dark gray color with Solvent. Spray. Randomly
drybrush a few stones with Light Gray, Light Umber, Wedgewood Blue and Brick
Red. Highlight sidewalk with Light Gray then further highlight with White.
2.
Use Maple on all inset brick in middle section and lower section.
Spray. Lightly drybrush brick with Light Umber then tip into Yellow Ochre to
highlight. With same brush, tip into Ivory Tusk to further highlight. Paint a
few bricks with Brick Red and Dark Brown. Add pattern bricks with Ivory Tusk.
3.
For the upper and outer bricks of middle sections and back door, apply
Cocoa Twinkle. Spray. Lightly drybrush with Chocolate then randomly drybrush
with Brick Red. Tip into Light Umber to lightly highlight. Tipping into Ivory
Tusk to spot drybrush will add a bit of twinkle.
4.
Apply Black Forest to the woodwork around display windows, back window frames, green dentil
work in middle/top of building, wood panels at top windows and the detail of the
corner trims. Use Maple for front door and inset of the corner trims then use
Cocoa Twinkle for the trim of the corner trims and background of flower above
door. Spray.
5.
Lightly drybrush door with Chocolate then tip into Light Umber to lightly
highlight. Heavily drybrush flowers above door and at top with Ivory Tusk then
highlight with White. Paint the flower centers and door handles Flat Black.
6.
Drybrush green areas with Accent Green then tip into Country Sage to
highlight. Further highlight by tipping into Yellow Ochre. At the corners,
lightly drybrush the Maple areas with Light Umber and highlight Yellow Ochre.
For trim, lightly drybrush Chocolate then highlight Brick Red and Light Umber.
7.
Apply Bay Blue to all blue and purple areas. Spray. For blue areas,
drybrush Dark Blue then tip into True Blue to highlight. Further highlight by
tipping into White. The purple areas are drybrushed Deep Purple. Add
highlights by tipping into Dusty Violet then into White.
8.
Evenly drybrush concrete trims with Medium Gray. These areas include
window arches, trim line in middle of building and various trims at several
floors of building. Tip into White to add highlights.
9.
Evenly drybrush body of sign with Ivory Tusk. Add highlights with White.
Detail as desired. Paint square trims with Flat Black. Paint window frames with
White.
10.
Paint a trim line in upper trim with Flat Black. Paint flower centers,
door handles and trim of woodwork with Copper.
