General Directions:
Begin with properly cleaned and fired 04 bisque. Thin down White with Media and
apply over entire piece to get into all detail. When dry, apply another smooth
coat of undiluted White. Allow to dry. Apply Hyacinth Blue in small areas
wiping back for highlights until entire piece is covered. Dampen a soft cloth
with Solvent to wipe back further highlights. Spray with Porcelain Mist to set.
Technique
- Apply Black TL to the sidewalk and
cobblestones. Wipe back to highlight. Spray and allow to dry. Dry brush
these areas with Light Gray. Randomly dry brush the cobblestones with Slate
Gray, Medium Mocha, and Brick Red. Randomly hit the sidewalk with splashes of
the same colors.
- Apply Sunshine Yellow to the curbs in
front of the fire station.
- Apply Nubian Brown to all of the stone
areas separating each floor of the building, around the windows and doors, and
the base of the building. Wipe back each section before beginning the next.
Spray and allow to dry. Dry brush with Mink then Portrait. Highlight with
Eggshell especially around the window openings.
- Mix 2 parts Holiday Red with one part
Nubian Brown. Be sure to mix enough to cover all of the bricks and the door.
Apply mixture to these areas – DO NOT WIPE BACK! Spray and allow to dry.
Drybrush with Antique Red. Highlight with Rose Mauve.
- Apply 2 coats of Copper to the roof.
Allow to dry thoroughly. Apply Jade Green to the same area. Gently wipe back
with a soft pouncing motion to create a patina look. Spray and allow to dry.
- Paint the glass portion of the lanterns
with Ivory Tusk. Paint the top and bottom of the lanterns with Flat Black.
Highlight the top and bottom areas with Medium Gray. Paint the letters on the
signs with Flat Black.
- Spray the entire piece with Porcelain
Mist and allow to dry.
