General Directions: Begin with properly cleaned and fired 06 bisque.  Thin down White and apply over entire piece to get into all detail.  When dry, apply another smooth coat of undiluted White.  Allow to dry.  Apply Hyacinth Blue in small areas wiping back for highlights until entire piece is covered.  Dampen a soft cloth with Solvent to wipe back further highlights and an overall even look to antiquing.  Spray with Porcelain Mist to set.

Technique

1.       Apply Black TL to the cobblestones, dirt area, doors, chimney flues and roof.  Lightly wipe back highlights on doors and dirt with no Solvent.  Wipe back highlights on cobblestones and roof to a dark gray color with Solvent.  Spray.

2.       Randomly paint a few cobblestones with the following colors: Brick Red, Mink, Wedgewood Blue and Light Gray.  Lightly add highlights with Light Gray to all cobblestones.

3.       Use Black Forest to the grass.  Spray.  Drybrush “dirt” areas with Brick Red.  With a clean brush, drybrush grass Forest Green; tip into Honey Toast to highlight then highlight further by tipping into White.

4.       Apply Coal Gray to the chimneys.   Wipe back a few highlights; spray.  Randomly paint a few stones with Brick Red and Mink.  Lightly drybrush highlights with Light Gray.  If red stones have a pink cast, lightly drybrush over them with Brick Red.

5.       Drybrush doors with Chocolate.  Tip into Honey Toast to add highlights then further highlight by tipping into Portrait.

6.       Evenly drybrush dirt and roof with Mississippi Mud.  For the dirt tip into Mink to highlight; further highlight by tipping into White.  Drybrush the roof with Brick Red.

7.       Use Nubian Brown for the stones and the wood trim on the building.  Spray.  Drybush the stones with Mississippi Mud somewhat evenly.  Now drybrush them Wedgewood Blue.  Randomly paint a few Light Gray and Brick Red.  Drybrush highlights Light Gray and then with White.

8.       Heavily drybrush the wood trim with Light Umber.  Several coats may be needed but do not lose dark areas.  Then tip into Portrait to add highlights; tipping into White can add further highlights.  Refer to photo as needed for color values.

9.       Evenly drybrush window frames with Portrait then tip into Light Gray to dull them down.

10.   Paint bottom trim of sign, roof caps, door hinges and latches with Flat Black.  Drybrush with Venetian Gold then tip into Shimmering Silver to add highlights.
