General Directions:
Begin with properly cleaned and fired 06 bisque. Thin down White and apply over
entire piece to get into all detail. When dry, apply another coat of undiluted
White. Allow to dry. Apply Hyacinth Blue in small areas wiping back for
highlights until entire piece is covered. Dampen a soft cloth with Solvent to
wipe back further highlights. Spray with Porcelain Mist to set TL. Reminder:
In this technique, sometimes more than 1 coat of TL is necessary so between each
coat, the color must be sprayed in order not to lift the first layer.
Technique
1.
Apply Black TL to the cobblestones, sidewalk,
foundation stones, above doors, corner stones of eave, sign frame, stone area on
ends, area below windows and roof. Wipe back sidewalk, cobblestones, stones
area on ends and roof for highlights. Spray.
2.
Randomly drybrush cobblestones and a few shingles
Brick Red, Light Gray, Wedgwood Blue and Mink. Highlight sidewalk with Light
Gray.
3.
Apply Cloud White to the body of the building
including down into crevices to create a mortar look between bricks. Drybrush
bricks 2 times with Dark Umber, careful not to cover mortar. Randomly paint a
few bricks with Brick Red and Flat Black.
4.
Evenly drybrush above doors, foundation stones,
corner eaves and window boxes with Light Tan then tip into White to further
highlight. Detail corner stones with Medium Mocha and Black.
5.
Drybrush 4 coats of Cloud White to the body of
sign, awning stripes and all trim work. Spray after each coat. If needed,
evenly drybrush with White. Paint decorative detail with Antique Red and
informative detail with Flat Black. Highlight frame with Slate Gray then tip
into White to further highlight as desired.
6.
Heavily drybrush doors with Medium Mocha then tip
into Light Tan to bring out kick plates. Apply Cloud White to door trim.
Spray. Use White acrylic to trim out door and window in doors. The handles are
Flat Black and highlighted with Slate Gray.
7.
Carefully apply Holiday Red to remaining stripes of
awning and above the windows. Spray. Drybrush with Antique Red to even out
color; then tip into Brightest Yellow to highlight.
8.
Evenly drybrush window trims Accent Green; tip into
Brightest Yellow to highlight then into White to further highlight. Add detail
to top area with Glorious Gold.
