General Directions:
Begin with properly cleaned and fired 06 bisque. Thin down White and apply over
entire piece to get into all detail. When dry, apply another coat of undiluted
White. Allow to dry. Apply Hyacinth Blue in small areas wiping back for
highlights until entire piece is covered. Dampen a soft cloth with Solvent to
wipe back further highlights. Spray with Porcelain Mist to set TL. Reminder:
In this technique, sometimes more than 1 coat of TL is necessary so between each
coat, the color must be sprayed in order not to lift the first layer.
Technique
1.
Apply Black TL to
the cobblestones, sidewalk and roof. Wipe back sidewalk and roof for
highlights. Spray. Randomly drybrush cobblestones Brick Red, Light Gray and
Mink. Lightly drybrush flue with Black TL. Highlight sidewalk with Light Gray.
2.
Use a thin even coat
of White Cloud over the pillars, sign, long windowpanes, background of Red Cross
sign and all brick. Be sure color is worked into the “grout” areas of brick.
Spray. Apply several coats of White Cloud to main sign, windows, sign
background and pillars to achieve solid white. If needed, drybrush with White.
3.
Drybrush the brick
on body of building, top and bottom of overhang above front door, underside of
main overhang, brick row in overhang and chimney’s with 2 coats of Ginger Oak
spraying between each layer of color. Apply thin washes of Orange Rust and
Chocolate to random bricks on building and chimney. Highlight these areas with
Lt Yellow Orange; then tip into Vanilla Ice and lightly highlight bricks that do
not have washes of color.
4.
Evenly drybrush
small windowpanes, trim above long windows, cross, door panels, trim of pillars
and various areas of main overhang with Brick Red. Refer to photo color
placement. Highlight these areas with Orange Rust then tip into Lt Yellow
Orange to further highlight.
5.
Drybrush the eave
and pillar bases with Medium Gray. Highlight by tipping into White. Detail
lettering with Flat Black as well as the door handles.
6.
Paint triangle
section of the long window trims with Flat Black, as well as the upper and lower
sections of rear overhang, mid section of front door overhang, Red Cross sign
trim and details of pillars. Lightly drybrush these areas with Medium Gray,
including door handles, then tip into White to further highlight.
7.
Apply White to
overhang trim, mid-section of rear overhang and both doors. If desired, paint
“EMERGENCY” in Brick Red in mid-section of rear overhang.
